Homeschool Overwhelm? Focus on This.

So you have decided to homeschool your children. Which first off, was one of the best choices you could make. You can now tailor your curriculum and study in order to meet your child's personal needs. You can deeply delve into subjects that you would otherwise not be able to ponder in a standard setting. Now that school has begun, and especially if you have multiple children, How do you handle it all? How do you decrease the feeling of overwhelm, as your student's teacher?

First, in all things, ask for guidance from the only One who can equip you with the wisdom you need to take on this life long endeavor. God has called us as parents, to teach our children to walk in the right paths, that they may flourish, and grow in their own calling. So when deciding on what curriculum to use, and what to ultimately teach, remember, what your ultimate goal is.

If you are not able to get through your schedule for the day, and you can't complete your list of check-offs, just ask yourself, have I fed their soul and spirit today with God's word, and rich examples of God's character, whether it be in experience, by sight, by hearing, or example?

This nourishing is the most important of all things. When this is tended to, all else falls into place, as it is God who made the numbers. It is God who orchestrates science, it is God that holds the world in place. It is God who gives us the wisdom to communicate. It is God's story of history that we read about. No matter what we study, we are always drawn back to the One who made it all.

"...and thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up."

Deuteronomy 6:5-7

May God guide and steer us in the right paths.
